The Duquesne Inclines . . .

Since the boys & Rachel works knocking doors 6 days a week they don't have time for much play and since Sunday is the only off, the Carters and the Barrus' decided to go on a Sunday drive after church. We went separately but met up later. Basically we took trips to the ghettos of Pittsburgh {I think Casey might have been trying to scare me or make me worry more about him when he's out selling}. But I actually enjoyed it. It was a fun little trip around steep hills and curvy roads and it was actually quite interesting. You don't see many homes like that in Utah that's for sure. There's definitely something to be said about homes that can be purchased for less than $15,000.

After the tour we met up with the Carters and we decided we would catch a ride on "Duke".

The Duquesne Incline:

The Duquesne Incline provides a ride on one of their century-old cable cars and one of the best views of downtown Pittsburgh from up atop Mt. Washington. According to a statement on their website {click here to view} it is ranked the 2nd most beautiful view in America. I gotta tell you it truly is an awesome view and I would definitely have to recommend you put this on your own must-see Pittsburgh to do list!

The Warhol

The Warhol is one of the most comprehensive single-artist museums in the world. It documents the life and work of Andy Warhol {who was an American artist that was the central figure in the movement known as pop art}.

I, Chanthoeun, having been named the events coordinator for the summer, according to some of the other wives here {there's 8 of us}, gathered up some of the ladies {April, Ava, Brittney, Kathryn and myself} for a ride to downtown Pittsburgh and being a Friday night {you get half off on admission}, I thought it would be the perfect excuse to check something off of my must-see list. I thought it was pretty cool and the exhibits were definitely INTERESTING {the museum also features works of other artists besides Warhol's as well}. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take any pictures so I won't be able to show you what I mean. You'll have to see for yourself {you totally should go if you're ever in Pittsburgh}. During our visit they were filming a scene for a movie called She's Out of My League {click for more info}. It's due out some time in the spring of 2009. No, we didn't quite manage to be part of the production. :( But we did get to wander onto the set a little {well mostly Brittney} :)

The Chidern's Museum of Pittsburgh with Ava. . .

On Wednesday May 7th, April took Ava to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. And Nanette and I went along too! It was fun to watch Ava interact with all the fun exhibits they had. The museum is a great place for kids of all ages, especial those of the 21 and 25 yr old age range! ha ha. :)

{April and Ava on Mister Rogers' front porch swing!}

{Yes! That's a giant LITE-BRITE board!!}

{Ava was enjoying her solo ride on the bubble-making teeter-totter when suddenly this little boy {lil' Nicky} came over and tried to take her bow out of her hair. After many failed attempts he made nice and play on the teeter-totter with her. Too cute!}

{There was this screen that if you stood in front of it you would appear on it, and then if you opened your mouth it would throw a smiley face up on your face. I had to get a picture of it.}

Gas for the drive downtown
& getting lost in Pittsburgh: $10 give or take.
Parking for the museum: $5.
Admission to the museum: $9 per adult, kids under 2: free.
The smile on Ava's face in the picture below: PRICELESS!! . . .

For everything else, Pittsburgh takes Visa!!
